Kurt E. Alexander is Of Counsel with Alvarez, Thompson & Smoak, P.A. His practice area focuses on litigation.

Kurt Alexander received a Bachelor of Arts Degree at the University of Florida and then attended University of Florida Fredric G. Levin College of Law obtaining his Juris Doctorate Degree in 1988.

Kurt Alexander is Board Certified by The Florida Bar and The National Board of Trial Advocacy in Civil Trial Law; he is AV® Preeminent™ Rated by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating it awards for legal skill and ethics; he has been identified by Best Lawyers in America® and Super Lawyers®, and he is an Advocate member and Life Fellow of The American Board of Trial Advocates, an invitation only organization of civil trial lawyers nationwide.

Mr. Alexander currently serves on the Executive Council of The Trial Lawyers Section of The Florida Bar, also as its liaison member to The Florida Bar Rules of Civil Procedure Committee, and he currently serves as the Chair of its Legislative and Bylaws Committees.  He is currently a member, and has served as a previous Chair, of The Florida Bar Grievance Committee for his area.  He has been appointed by Order of the Supreme Court of Florida to its Committee on Standard Jury Instructions in Civil Cases.  Most recently, he has been appointed by the President of The Florida Bar to its Standing Committee on Professionalism.  He has recently testified before the Civil Justice subcommittee of the Florida Legislature as a fact expert on the subject of Proposals for Settlement in litigation.

Mr. Alexander has a very active trial practice that has primarily involved the defense of matters involving civil litigation from the time he was admitted to The Florida Bar in 1989.  Mr. Alexander is admitted to practice in Florida, before all Florida Federal District Courts, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and The United States Supreme Court.  

Mr. Alexander has served a number of charitable causes over the years, including ThyCa: Thyroid Cancer Survivors’ Association, Inc. as General Counsel since 1997, he provides legal representation to combat international child abduction in conjunction with the U.S. State Department, and he supports other causes involving children’s issues.
